The French Academy History

Since its inception, The French Academy has experienced significant growth and transformation. Our journey is marked by key milestones that demonstrate our unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in language education.
  • October 2024: The academy receives its accreditation as TCF exam center from France Education (branch of the French Education Ministry) for the TCF Canada, TCF France and TCF Quebec

  • January 2024: The academy now has 150 students enrolled in language courses, 78 students in postgraduate programs, 18 freelance teachers, and a community of 12,000 followers on Facebook.

  • May 2022: The French Academy launches a dual degree program with Genovasi University College. This partnership offers double recognition for MBA and DBA programs, adding value to the Asian market through this Malaysian university.

  • December 2021: The first graduation ceremony is held for the MBA and DBA students of Riviera University. This event marks a significant milestone for the academy in organizing prestigious academic events.

  • March 2020: The French Academy Group is born. By adopting a global strategy with several educational departments, The French Academy strengthens its marketing plan for academic and language programs, expanding its international growth.

  • January 2020: The academy becomes the Asian regional office of Riviera University, offering distance MBA, DBA, and BBA programs. These programs, registered in France under the Aix-Marseille rectorate, further consolidate The French Academy's international academic offerings.

  • May 2019: The French Academy receives accreditation from the Paris Chamber of Commerce as an official exam center for the Test d'Évaluation de Français (TEF), TEF Canada, and the Diplôme Français Professionnel. The company becomes the only private center in Southeast Asia for these exams.

  • February 2019: The French Academy surpasses 100 students, with 60% of clients enrolled in private and at-home courses. The team grows to 15 freelance teachers, and the community expands to 6,400 followers on its Facebook page.

  • June 2018: The company is taken over by Olivier Cane and the La Petite École group. The center is renamed The French Academy, affirming its mission to offer French courses to a more diverse clientele.

  • December 2013: Stéphane Lemarié opens the first language center in Sri Hartamas. This center specializes in teaching French to children and teenagers under the name SJL French.
